Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs the use of all services provided by DBaaS.dev, including managed PostgreSQL database instances, the ephemeral database API, and any related infrastructure or tooling. This AUP is incorporated by reference into the Terms of Service and constitutes a binding part of the agreement between the Customer and DBaaS.dev.
By creating an account, accessing the API, or using any DBaaS.dev service, you agree to comply with this AUP. Violation of this AUP may result in immediate suspension or permanent termination of your access, without refund or prior notice, and may be reported to the relevant authorities where applicable law requires or permits.
Scope: This AUP applies to all data stored in, transmitted through, or processed by DBaaS.dev databases — including databases provisioned on behalf of third parties using the DBaaS.dev API.
1. Malicious Code and Malware
The following are strictly prohibited:
Prohibited conduct
- Storing, hosting, distributing, or transmitting malware of any kind, including viruses, worms, Trojan horses, ransomware, spyware, adware, or rootkits
- Storing or distributing exploit code, attack toolkits, or hacking tools intended or designed to compromise computer systems, networks, or applications without authorisation
- Using DBaaS.dev infrastructure as a command-and-control (C2) server for any malicious software or botnet
- Storing credentials, access tokens, or authentication data obtained without authorisation from third-party systems
- Knowingly storing data that has been exfiltrated from another system without authorisation
2. Illegal and Harmful Content
DBaaS.dev databases must not be used to store, process, or transmit:
Prohibited content
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that sexualises minors — zero tolerance; immediately reported to relevant authorities
- Content that is illegal under applicable law in India, the jurisdiction of the Customer, or the jurisdiction where the data subjects reside
- Content that infringes intellectual property rights, including copyrighted material, trade secrets, or patented information obtained without authorisation
- Content that facilitates fraud, identity theft, or financial crime, including phishing pages, fake invoices, or stolen financial data
- Content that constitutes hate speech, incitement to violence, or harassment targeting individuals or groups based on protected characteristics
- Content subject to export control or sanctions restrictions, including technology or data prohibited from transfer under applicable law
3. Spam and Unsolicited Communications
DBaaS.dev infrastructure must not be used in connection with spam or unsolicited bulk messaging operations. The following are expressly prohibited:
Prohibited conduct
- Storing bulk email lists assembled without verifiable opt-in consent from each recipient
- Operating or supporting unsolicited bulk email (UBE) or spam campaigns of any kind
- Storing data used to facilitate SMS spam, robocalls, or unsolicited bulk messaging via any channel
- Hosting data in support of phishing campaigns — including templates, target lists, or credential harvesting databases
- Storing or processing data in connection with comment spam, review fraud, or fake engagement operations targeting third-party platforms
4. Network Abuse and Denial-of-Service Attacks
The integrity of the shared infrastructure on which DBaaS.dev operates is essential for all customers. The following are strictly prohibited:
Prohibited conduct
- Using DBaaS.dev databases to store attack payloads, target lists, or coordination data for denial-of-service (DoS) or distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks against any target
- Launching, facilitating, or amplifying DoS or DDoS attacks from or through DBaaS.dev infrastructure
- Port scanning, network probing, or vulnerability scanning of systems other than those you own or have explicit authorisation to test
- Exploiting or attempting to exploit vulnerabilities in DBaaS.dev infrastructure, other customers' databases, or any third-party system
- Attempting to gain unauthorised access to another customer's database, credentials, or infrastructure
- Deliberately consuming excessive resources — CPU, memory, network bandwidth, or storage — in a manner that degrades service for other customers
- IP spoofing or any other technique designed to obscure the origin of network traffic
5. Additional Prohibited Uses
Further prohibited conduct
- Cryptocurrency mining — running mining workloads of any kind using DBaaS.dev resources
- Circumventing technical controls — using any method to bypass rate limits, usage quotas, access restrictions, or authentication mechanisms
- Reselling or sublicensing access to DBaaS.dev services without express prior written consent from DBaaS.dev
- Storing surveillance data obtained through stalkerware, covert device monitoring, or any non-consensual tracking of individuals
- Operating services that facilitate the above prohibited uses by third parties — including storing data on behalf of another party who is engaged in prohibited conduct
6. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any use of DBaaS.dev infrastructure that violates this AUP — including by other customers — please report it to [email protected]. Include as much detail as possible: the nature of the abuse, relevant database identifiers or IP addresses, and any supporting evidence.
We investigate all credible reports and will take appropriate action, which may include suspension of the offending account, reporting to law enforcement, or notification of affected parties.
7. Enforcement
DBaaS.dev reserves the right to:
- Investigate any suspected violation of this AUP
- Suspend or terminate access to any account found in violation, with or without prior notice, at our sole discretion
- Remove or disable access to any content that violates this AUP
- Disclose information about violations to law enforcement agencies, regulatory bodies, or affected parties where required or permitted by applicable law
- Cooperate with lawful investigations by governmental authorities
DBaaS.dev assumes no liability for actions taken in good faith to enforce this AUP. Customers found in serious violation of this AUP — in particular Sections 1 (Malware), 2 (Illegal Content), and 4 (Network Abuse) — may be permanently banned from the service with no right of reinstatement.
8. Relationship to Terms of Service
This AUP forms part of and is incorporated into the Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict between this AUP and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service shall prevail to the extent of the inconsistency, except where this AUP imposes a stricter restriction — in which case this AUP shall prevail.
We may update this AUP from time to time. Material updates will be notified in accordance with the notice provisions in the Terms of Service. Continued use of the service following notification constitutes acceptance of the revised AUP.
