Redis-compatible · Free plan
Free managed Valkey hosting
A Valkey database for caches, sessions, queues and rate limits — ready in about a minute, reached over TLS with any Redis client. No credit card, no servers to run.
What you get
Real Valkey 8
The open-source Valkey server. It speaks the Redis protocol, so redis-cli, ioredis, node-redis, redis-py, go-redis and other Redis clients work as they are.
TLS on every connection
Certificates from a public authority, trusted by every client out of the box. Plain-text connections are refused.
Password you can rotate
Rotate the password from the dashboard whenever you like. The old password stops working right away.
IP allow list
Limit access to your servers' addresses. Anything not on the list cannot connect.
Data that survives restarts
Writes are saved to disk, and a backup is taken every day. Restore the latest one from the dashboard in one click.
Dashboard and console
Live memory, key and connection charts, plus a console for running commands from the browser.
The free plan
Connect in a minute
Your dashboard shows the host, port and password. The user name is default, and the URL starts with rediss:// (two s's: TLS).
redis-cli
redis-cli --tls -h <host> -p <port> --user default --pass <password>
> SET greeting "hello"
OK
> GET greeting
"hello"Node.js (node-redis)
import { createClient } from "redis";
const client = createClient({ url: "rediss://default:<password>@<host>:<port>" });
await client.connect();
await client.set("session:42", JSON.stringify({ user: "ada" }), { EX: 3600 });
const session = await client.get("session:42");Python (redis-py)
import redis
r = redis.Redis.from_url("rediss://default:<password>@<host>:<port>")
r.lpush("jobs", "resize:photo-17")
job = r.brpop("jobs", timeout=5)Questions
Is this Redis?⌄
It is Valkey, the open-source fork of Redis maintained under the Linux Foundation. It speaks the same protocol and supports the same commands for strings, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets, streams and pub/sub, so Redis clients and libraries connect without changes.
How much can I store on the free plan?⌄
25 MB of data in memory, saved to disk so it survives restarts. When the database is full, new writes are refused with an error instead of older keys being silently evicted, so nothing disappears without you knowing. Set expiry times on cache keys to keep room free.
What happens if I stop using it?⌄
After 7 days without any commands the database pauses; resume it from the dashboard and your data is still there. After 30 days without use it is deleted, and we email you before that happens.
Do I need a credit card?⌄
No. Sign in with Google and create the database. The free plan has no trial period.
Is DBaaS.dev affiliated with Valkey or Redis?⌄
No. DBaaS.dev is an independent service that runs the unmodified open-source Valkey server. Valkey is a trademark of the Linux Foundation and Redis is a registered trademark of Redis Ltd., used here only to name the database we host and the protocol it speaks.
